Let \(G\) be a real semisimple Lie group and \(P\) a parabolic subgroup. Then \(G/P\) is a compact variety. Representations of \(P\) induce homogeneous vector bundles over \(G/P\). Let \(V\) and \(W\) be two such vector bundles over \(G/P\). The goal is to describe \(G\)-equivariant first order differential operators between \(V\) and \(W\). From the point of view of representation theory these operators can be regarded as ``intertwining operators'' for the respective principal series representations. (This is the representation of \(G\) acting on the space of sections in the given homogeneous vector bundle.) First results on these operators have been obtained by \textit{A. Korányi} and \textit{H. M. Reimann} [Invent. Math. 139, No. 2, 371--390 (2000; Zbl 0957.22018)]. Generalizing and simplifying the work in that article, this article gives a complete description for all such operators under the assumption that \(G\) is ``of inner type''. For related work see also: \textit{J. Slovák} and \textit{V. Souček} [Papers from the conference, Marseille-Luminy, France, May 1999. Paris: Société Mathématique de France. Sémin. Congr. 4, 251--276 (2000; Zbl 0998.53021)], \textit{B. Ørsted} [Papers from the conference, Marseille-Luminy, France, May 1999. Paris: Société Mathématique de France. Sémin. Congr. 4, 235--249 (2000; Zbl 0989.22018)].
