The idea of the author is to apply multiplier \(C^*\)-theory to Hilbert \(C^*\)-modules. He shows that the positive invertible quasi-multipliers of the \(C^*\)-algebra of ``compact'' operators on a Hilbert \(C^*\)-module \({\mathcal M}\) are equivalent to the \(A\)-valued inner products on \({\mathcal M}\) that induce an equivalent norm. (``Compact'' operators are those approximable by certain ``finite-dimensional'' operators.). This equivalence is applied to treat various problems. For instance, the author studies unitary isomorphisms of \(C^*\)-valued inner products on a Hilbert \(C^*\)-module and proves that countably generated Hilbert \(C^*\)-modules are unitarily isomorphic if and only if they are isomorphic as Banach \(C^*\)-modules.
