The author considers the eigenvalue problem with symmetric positive definite bilinear forms with nonlinear dependence on the parameter in the case of multiple eigenvalues. The existence of the discrete spectrum for this problem and the properties of the spectrum are described. For the solution of the problem the finite element method is applied. It is assumed that the domain is decomposed onto simplicial elements, then simple linear Lagrange finite elements are used. In the case when the domain is a convex \(n\)-dimensional polyhedron error estimates of the finite element scheme are obtained.
