The author investigates a Seidel-type matrix \((a_{n,k})\), \(n\geq 0\), \(k\geq 0\), where \[ a_{n,k}= \sum^n_{i=0} {n\choose i} B_{k+i} \] and \(B_i\) is a Bernoulli number. The numbers \(K_n\) in the sequence of upper diagonal elements of this matrix are called median Bernoulli numbers. The prime divisors of the numerators and denominators of the \(K_n\) are investigated, and the power series \[ b(x)= \sum^\infty_{n=0} B_n x^{n+1}\quad\text{and}\quad m(x)= \sum^\infty_{n=0} K_n x^{n+1} \] are shown to satisfy \(b(x)= -(1+ 2/x)m(x^2/(1+ x))\). A continued fraction expansion for \(m(x)\) is also obtained.
