The existence and uniqueness of bounded solutions on the half-line as well an on the whole real line are examined for the second-order differential equation \[ -(p(x)y')'+ q(x)y= f(x,y). \] The related boundary value problems are considered in the Hilbert \(L^2\)-spaces, and so the standard Schauder fixed-point theorem can be applied.
