The author introduces the concept of a fuzzy subnear-ring of a ring as a fuzzy subgroup with respect to the additive ring operation and a fuzzy subgroupoid with respect to the multiplicative ring operation. He also introduces the concepts fuzzy ideal and fuzzy prime ideal in nearrings. It is proven that a non-trivial ideal of a near-ring is a prime ideal iff its characteristic mapping is a fuzzy prime ideal. Moreover it turns out that the concepts fuzzy subnear-ring and fuzzy ideal can be characterized in terms of \(\alpha\)-levels.
