The Samelson space of a fibration (Q1822379): Difference between revisions

In his earlier paper [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 96, 505-512 (1986; Zbl 0602.55006)] the author studied the Samelson space of an arbitrary fibration \(F\to E\to B\). In this paper he presents rational versions of various topological results whithin the unifying framework of the Samuelson space method. First a topological argument is sketched for the rational fibre decomposition theorem and an elementary proof is obtained for the transgression theorem. Other results such as the trace theorem and fiber number theorem are considered. Then the homotopy Euler characteristic of elliptic spaces, the fibred suspensions and coformal maps are studied. Finally the author presents some extensions of the method.
