An optimal regulator for linear system states with input delay and a quadratic cost function has been designed. A closed form of the optimal regulator is given by a feedback control whose gain matrix satisfies a Riccati equation. The obtained regulator has no advanced or delayed arguments in the Riccati equation, which makes it similar to the Smith predictor.
