Let \(K\) be a nonempty convex subset of a Hausdorff topological space \(X\) with dual space \(X^*\). Let \(T:K\to X^*\), \(\theta:K\times K\to X\), \(\eta:K\times K\to\mathbb{R}\) be maps. The authors consider the generalized variational type inequality in \(X\) as follows Find \(\overline x\in K\) such that \[ \langle T\overline x,\theta(y,\overline x)\rangle+ \eta(\overline x,y)\geq 0\quad\text{for all }\overline x\in K. \] The authors establish existence theorems using a geometric version of the KKM theorem of Fan, under the condition when \(K\) is compact, and then generalize their result to the case when \(K\) is not compact. When \(\eta=0\) and \(\theta(y,x)= y-f(x)\), where \(f:K\to K\) is a continuous function, the results reduce to the case considered by Isac. The authors also extend their own results for the case \(\eta=0\) [Ind. J. Pure Appl. Math. 28, No. 2, 181-187 (1997; preceding review)].
