In the paper under consideration a characterization of Stein manifolds M for which the space of analytic functions, \({\mathcal O}(M)\), is isomorphic as Fréchet space to the space of analytic functions on a polydisc is given. Theorem 2. Let M be a Stein manifold of dimension n. Then \({\mathcal O}(M)\) is isomorphic to \({\mathcal O}(\Delta^ n)\) as Fréchet space, if and only if there exists a bounded proper plurisubharmonic function on M. This result was firstly proved by Zakariuta. In the paper an alternative proof is given. Several corollaries of this results are discussed. The next result is related with bounded domains in \({\mathbb{C}}^ n\). A bounded domain \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{C}}^ n\) is called hyperconvex if there exists a plurisubharmonic continuous \(\phi\) : \(\Omega\) \(\to {\mathbb{R}}\), \(\phi <0\), and \(\phi\) (z)\(\to 0\) as \(z\to \partial \Omega.\) Lemma 8. Let \(D\subset {\mathbb{C}}^ n\) be a bounded domain of holomorphy. Then \({\mathcal O}(D)\) is isomorphic to \({\mathcal O}(\Delta^ n)\) as a Fréchet space iff D is hyperconvex. It is shown that hyperconvexity is a local property of the boundary.
