Considering two centrally symmetric sets in a normed space, their relative \(n-\)width was introduced and studied by \textit{V. N. Konovalov} [Math. Zametki 35, No. 3, 369--380 (1984; Zbl 0561.41022)]. Introducing a certain polynomial \(P_r(t)\) the authors denote by \( P_r(D)\) the self-conjugate differential operator induced by \(P_r(t)\) . \(K_q(P_r) \) denotes a certain generalized Sobolev class of \(2 \pi \)-periodic smooth functions. The authors study the relative Kolomogorov \(n-\)width of \(K_p(P_r)\) relative to \(K_p(P_r)\) in the space \(L_q[0,2\pi]\) . Corresponding asymptotic orders of relative widths are also obtained [cf. \textit{V. N. Konovalov}, Ukr. Math. J. 54, No. 5, 795--805 (2002); translation from Ukr. Mat. Zh. 54, No.5, 647--655 (2002; Zbl 1003.41017)].
