This paper sets out to establish fundamental basic theory for fractional hybrid differential equations based on the Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative. The paper is organised as follows: following some background information and references to other works, the fractional hybrid equation is introduced. The authors present an existence result and go on to consider fractional hybrid differential inequalities. They consider maximal and minimal solutions and show how these provide bounds for the solutions of related differential inequalities. In the final section, results are presented concerning extremal positive solutions for the fractional hybrid differential equations.
