A concept of independence of \(W^*\!_ 2\)-algebras is developed which is the fermion analogue of independence of von Neumann algebras for bosons. For a fermion Brownian motion process \(\{A(t),A^{\dag}(t)\); \(t\in {\mathbb{R}}^+\}\) [cf. the author, ''Fermion stochastic calculus'', Ph. D. thesis, Univ. Nottingham (1984)] and a Markov time \(T=\int^{\infty}_{0}\lambda dE(\lambda),\) it is shown that the process \(\{A(T+t)-A(T),\quad A^{\dag}(T+t)-A^{\dag}(T);\quad t\in {\mathbb{R}}^+\},\) whose components are defined as spectral integrals with operator-valued integrands as in \textit{R. L. Hudson}, J. Funct. Anal. 34, 266-281 (1979; Zbl 0424.46048), constitutes a new fermion Brownian motion process such that the ''pre-T'' and ''post-T'' \(W^*\!_ 2\)-algebras are independent.
