Based on a boundary layer theory of shell buckling including effects of nonlinear prebuckling, initial imperfections and geometric nonlinearities, the author obtains a perturbation expansion of all unknown functions and thus possible solutions of the system of partial differential equations. Combinations of external pressure and temperature rise are considered as loading cases. The imperfection sensitivity of different configurations is studied.
