\textit{W. Fleischer} [Anz. Österr. Akad. Wiss., Math.-Naturwiss. Kl., 127-131 (1981; Zbl 0499.47016)] has introduced so-called discrepancy operators for defining a general notion of discrepancy in compact spaces. In the present article this general concept is used to define a discrepancy for sequences in compact groups. The relations of this discrepancy to the classical \(L^ 2\)-discrepancy is discussed. Finally, a Koksma-Hlawka-type inequality is proved for functions in a weighted \(L^ 2\)-space.
