The paper presents a complex variable boundary element method (CVBEM) for the numerical solution of exterior boundary value problems for second-order elliptic differential equations with constant coefficients in the plane. It is based on the Cauchy integral formula and requires only the boundary curve to be discretized. The CVBEM is applied to two specific examples where the exact solution is known.
