A product \(G=AB\) of two subgroups \(A\) and \(B\) is called mutually permutable if \(UB=BU\) und \(AV=VA\) holds for all subgroups \(U\) of \(A\) and \(V\) of \(B\). The mutually permutable product \(G=AB\) of two finite supersoluble subgroups \(A\) and \(B\) need not be supersoluble, but it is known that \(G/(A\cap B)_G\) is supersoluble. The authors prove generalizations of this result and consider group classes that are closed with respect to mutually permutable products. For this they find subgroups of the factors that are subnormal in the product and investigate the cover-and-avoidance property of the factors in the product.
