An inner ideal in a *-algebra A is a subspace J such that \(\{\) JAJ\(\}\) \(\subseteq J\) where \(\{\) abc\(\}\) denotes the Jordan triple product, \((ab^*c+cb^*a)\). The author shows that when A is a von Neumann algebra the weakly closed inner ideals are just the algebras eAf where e and f are projections.
