Using the Navier-Stokes equations of a Newtonian fluid in a bounded domain limited by a free surface together with boundary condition, which consider the effect of the surface tension, and also using an appropriate kinematic condition for the evolution of the boundary, the authors prove that the uniform collapse of a filament is impossible. Moreover, it is found a time-dependent non trivial lower bound for the volume of fluid enclosed by the filaments.
