The authors determine the real integral and rational solutions of the equation \(x^y= y^x\) \((x,y> 0)\). In particular, it is shown that the point \((e,e)\in\mathbb R^2\) is the unique accumulation point of the nontrivial rational solutions \((x,y)\) of the equation in question.
