The authors study a micromagnetic problem. Defining the corresponding relaxed problem as in \textit{P. Pedregal} [J. Nonlinear Sci. 4, No. 2, 105-125 (1994; Zbl 0790.46061)], by means of Young measures, they establish optimality conditions for relaxed solutions in the form of a maximum principle. In some physically relevant situations a uniqueness result is proved.
