The subject of this paper is a differential equation in a Banach space with two delays of the following form \[ y'(t)=f(t,y(t),y(t-\tau),y'(t-\tau),y(t-2\tau),y'(t-2\tau)),\;\;t\geq 0,\tag{1} \] with the initial condition defined on \((-\infty,0]\) \[ y(t)=\phi(t).\tag{2} \] The stability with respect to the initial condition of the solution of (1)(2) and of a class of so called \(\theta\)-methods of approximate solution of the above problem is discussed. A \(\theta\)-method is a finite difference scheme of the following general form \[ y_{n+1}=y_n+h[\theta f(t_{n+1},y_{n+1})+(1-\theta)f(t_n,y_n)].\tag{3} \] The authors introduce a class of problems (1)(2) called here \(D(\alpha,\beta,\gamma,\sigma)\) and \(D_{\delta(\alpha,\beta,\gamma,\sigma)}\) depending on a number of parameters. The problem (1) is in the given class if a certain, rather complicated conditions of technical character are satisfied by the function \(f\) (I don't give here the explicit form of these conditions). Let \(z(t)\) be a solution of (1) satisfying another initial condition \(\varphi\). For example it is proven for problems of the above class that the norm \(\|y(t)-z(t)\|\) can be bounded from above by a constant depending on parameters defining a given class times \(M\), where \[ M=\max\{\|\phi(t)-\varphi(t)\|,\|\phi'(t)-\varphi'(t)\|\}. \] Also the theorem on the asymptotic character of stability \[ \lim_{t\rightarrow\infty}\|y(t)-z(t)\|=0 \] is given. Similar results are given for the \(\theta\)-methods.
