Given the fact that for an expansive linear map \(A:\mathbb{R}^d \to \mathbb{R}^d\) \((d \geq 1)\) the \(A\)-approximate continuity at a point \(x\) depends on \(A\), in this paper those self-adjoint expansive linear maps \(A_1,A_2 :\mathbb{R}^d \to \mathbb{R}^d \) are characterized for which the respective concepts of \(A_i\)-approximate continuity (\(i\) = 1,2) coincide. This allows to analyze the equivalence among dilation matrices for a construction of systems of multiresolution analysis and to give a full description for the equivalence class of the dyadic dilation matrix among all self-adjoint expansive maps. Under the validity of the ``four exponentials conjecture'' of algebraic number theory, a similar full description for general self-adjoint expansive linear maps is presented.
