Strong asymptotics for Jacobi polynomials with varying weights (Q1296532): Difference between revisions

Jacobi polynomials with varying parameters \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\) depending on the degree are considered for large values of the degree. Strong asymptotics are established and extensions of the well-known Darboux formulae are derived. The proofs of the various asymptotic forms rely on the saddle point approximation of certain contour integrals.
