The author studies the following single reaction-diffusion equation (Allen-Cahn equation) in a bounded domain \[ u_t= \Delta u- \varepsilon^{-2} F'(u)\text{ in }\Omega \times (0,\infty) \] with the Neumann boundary condition. \(F\) is a double-well type function. Because of the small parameter \(\varepsilon >0\), solutions with a sharp thin layer arise as time goes on, and the dynamics of the solution with this typical feature is the main interest of this paper. He investigates the very slow dynamics of the motion of the layer and deduces the relation with its geometry.
