The paper deals with a finite element approximation to thermal convection problems with the Joule heat. The authors derive the estimates using the fact that the finite element approximation is uniformly bounded in the cubic summable norm with derivatives up to the first order. The error estimates obtained by the authors are optimal and do not require any stability conditions. Numerical experiments are presented.
