This book is primarily a mathematical monograph and applied in nature, special emphasis is on mathematical methods. A number of theorems are presented and some are proved in detail. The goal of this book is to maintain the focus on the central concepts of time- and band-limiting. Special emphasis is on real-variable methods rather than those of complex function theory, in several cases preferring the more intuitive result or argument instead of giving the most complete result. The core material in each chapter is supplemented to some extent with notes and auxiliary results that as well outline further major mathematical contributions and primary applications. Although the main target audience of this book is professional engineers, it may also be used as reading material for graduate courses in communication engineering. A well written book.
