The local boundary integral equation and its meshless implementation is a method for solving boundary value problems. The method is mechless, as it does not need a finite element mesh. The paper explains in detail the method and its implementation, and illustrates its application by many examples within linear elasticity, showing high rates of numerical convergence. It is claimed that the method possesses a tremendous potential for solving nonlinear problems and/or problems with discontinuities.
