Symplectic reduction and Riemann-Roch for circle actions (Q1902219): Difference between revisions

The paper deals with a conjecture of Guillemin-Sternberg on the dimensions of some manifolds connected with group actions (preserving the connection) on compact symplectic manifolds equipped with a complex Hermitian line bundle with a connection on it. The abelian and general cases of the conjecture was recently proved by M. Vergne and the third author. In this paper a simple proof for the group \(S^1\) is given. It is based on the ``symplectic cutting'' construction of E. Lerman.
