In this article, the authors define holomorphic Green functions for constant coefficient operators. Inverses of the operators are obtained using the Cauchy-Fantappié-Leray formalism. Compared with the `classical' approach via Fourier transform and fundamental solutions, this holomorphic viewpoint offers the following two advantages. Because one works directly with functions of algebraic-logarithmic type, the singularities of the `fundamental solutions' are easier to interpret. Second, integration takes place over a compact \(2n-1\) real dimensional contour rather than over a noncompact contour of real dimension \(n\). In particular, there is no need to change the contour of integration in order to define the Green function.
