    The author establishes the matrix inequality \[ Af(A)+Bf(B)\geq \left(\frac{A+B}{2} \right)^{1/2}(f(A)+f(B))\left(\frac{A+B}{2} \right)^{1/2}\; , \] for \(A,B\geq 0\), and for any matrix monotone function \(f\), and proves \textit{X. Zhan}'s conjecture [Linear Multilinear Algebra 47, No.~2, 191--194 (2000; Zbl 0968.15013)] on singular values for Heinz means \[ \sigma_j(A^sB^{1-s}+A^{1-s}B^s)\leq \sigma_j(A+B)\; , \] when \(0\leq s\leq 1\).
