A Lie-triple algebra is a commutative algebra satisfying the identity \[ 2x(x(xy)) + x^3y = 3x(x^2y). \] In this paper the author continues the study of these algebras which was started by J. M. Osborn. The notion of a radical for a Lie-triple algebra \(A\) is defined which in the commutative case generalizes the classical Jacobson radical for associative rings and it is proved that if \(A\) is finite dimensional then \(A\) can be represented as a direct sum of simple ideals. After giving some properties of the radical the author studies some examples of Lie-triple algebras and gives a negative answer to the question whether a finite dimensional Lie-triple algebra necessarily contains a unique ideal which is maximal with respect to the property of not containing an idempotent.
