    The problem considered is the reaction-diffusion problem \[ \left. \begin{aligned} u_t &= \Delta\varphi(u)- \kappa F(u,v)\\ V_t &=-\kappa F(u,v)\end{aligned}\right\}\text{ in }\Omega\times (0,T], \] \[ u= u_0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega\times (0,T], \] \[ u(x, 0)= 0,\quad V(x,0)= v_0,\quad \kappa\in\Omega \] with fast reaction in relation to the diffusion process where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) with smooth boundary \(\partial\Omega\), \(\kappa\), \(u\), and \(v_0\) are positive constants, \(\varphi(u)= \int^u_0 D(s) ds\) with \(D\) the diffusivity of the medium, and \(\kappa F(u,v)\) is the contribution of a chemical reaction with \(\kappa\) the reaction rate. Nonlinear, even degenerate diffusion is allowed. Existence and uniqueness of weak solutions are obtained limit behaviour of the solutions as \(\kappa\to \infty\) is also studied.
