In this paper, the authors consider the one-dimensional MGT-thermoviscoelasticity system: \[ \begin{cases} \dddot{u}+\alpha\ddot{u}- \beta\dot{u}_{xx}-\gamma u_{xx}=-p\dot{\theta}_{x}-q\ddot{\theta}_x,\\ \dddot{u}+\hat \alpha\ddot{\theta}-\hat \beta\dot{\theta}_{xx}-\hat \gamma\theta_{xx}=-\eta p\dot{u}_{x}-\eta q\ddot{u}_x \end{cases} \tag{1}\] with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions and initial value conditions \begin{align*} u(x, 0)=u_0(x), ~v(x, 0)=v_0(x), ~w(x, 0)=w_0(x),\\ \theta(x, 0)=\theta_0(x), ~\phi(x, 0)=\phi_0(x), ~\psi(x, 0)=\psi_0(x). \end{align*} Here \(\alpha, \hat\alpha, \beta, \hat \beta, \gamma, \hat \gamma, \eta, \hat \eta, p\) and \(q\) are parameters. By using variable substitution, they reduce system the above system to two coupled wave-type equations with lower order terms. Then, in view of the energy method, Gronwall lemma and Galerkin approximations, they obtain that the above system is well-posed for any choice of the constitutive parameters. Finally, within the subcritical condition for MGT equations involved and by choosing the suitable parameters, they show that the solution semigroup generated by MGT-thermoviscoelasticity is exponentially stable. Furthermore, the authors generalize the above results of well-posedness and exponentially stablility to the case that one of equations is critical.
