This paper deals with Cauchy problem of the weakly dissipative periodic Camassa-Holm type equation \[ u_t -u_{txx} +3u2u_x +\lambda(u-u_{xx})=uu_{xxx} +2u_xu_{xx}. \] The authors study the local well-posedness, wave breaking phenomena, blow-up rate and global existence of solutions.
