The author introduces a notion of a Fredholm operator of nonnegative index, and this notion is applied to generalize the homotopy property of the coincidence index. This is used in problems of the form \(L(x)\in \Phi (x)\) where \(L\) is a Fredholm operator and \(\Phi\) a multivalued mapping.
