    Two self maps \(A\) and \(S\) of a normed space \(X\) are called weakly compatible if \(Ax=Sx\) implies \(ASx=SAx\). Let \(F\) be the family of mappings \(\varphi:\mathbb{R}^{+}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^{+}\) which are upper semicontinuous, nondecreasing and satisfying \(\varphi(t)<t\) for any \(t>0\). The main result of this paper is the following common fixed point theorem: Let \(A,B,S,T\) be four mappings from a Banach space \(X\) into itself satisfying the following conditions: (i) \(A(X)\subset T(X)\) and \(B(X)\subset S(X)\); (ii) the pairs \(\{A,S\}\) and \(\{B,T\}\) are weakly compatible; (iii) for some \(0< a\leq 1\), \(0<\alpha,\beta\leq 1\), \(p\geq 1\) \[ \begin{matrix} \| Ax-By\| ^p & \leq &\varphi(a\| Sx-Ty\| ^p+(1-a)\max\{\alpha\| Sx-Ax\| ^p, \\ & & \beta\| Ty-By\| ^p,\| Sx-Ax\| ^{\frac{p}{2}}\| Ty-Ax\| ^{\frac{p}{2}}, \\ & & \| Ty-Ax\| ^{\frac{p}{2}}\| Sx-By\| ^{\frac{p}{2}},\\ & & \frac{1}{2}[\| Sx-Ax\| ^p+\| Ty-By\| ^p]\})\end{matrix} \] for all \(x,y\in X\) and \(\varphi\in F\). Then \(A,B,S\) and \(T\) have a unique common fixed point.
