On common fixed points of compatible mappings in metric and Banach spaces (Q1118852): Difference between revisions

The authors prove a number of theorems concerning the existence of common fixed points of a family of maps (three or four) satisfying certain contractive conditions in metric and Banach spaces. This results are an improvement of previous results of the authors with \textit{M. D. Khan} [Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 7, 75-87 (1984; Zbl 0561.54036)]. The structure of the set of common fixed points in strictly convex Banach spaces is also studied.
