Let \(E\) be a uniformly convex Banach space with a Fréchet differentiable norm, \(\emptyset\neq C\subset E\) be bounded, closed and convex and \({\mathcal T}=\{T_t:t\in G\}\) be a continuous representation of a right reversible semitopological semigroup \(G\) as asymptotically nonexpansive type self-mappings of \(C\). A continuous function \(u:G\to C\) is called an almost-orbit of \(\mathcal T\), iff \[ \lim_{t\in G}\left[\sup_{h\in G}|u(ht)-T_h(u(t))|\right]=0. \] Let \(\mathcal F\) be the set of common fixed points of \(\mathcal T\). The author shows for an almost orbit \(u\) of \(\mathcal T\) that \(\displaystyle\bigcap_{s\in G}\overline{\text{co}}\{u(t):t\geq s\}\cap\mathcal F\) contains at most one point. As a consequence he obtains a so-called ergodic retraction theorem: Assume that \({\mathcal F}\neq\emptyset\). Then \[ \bigcap_{s\in G}\overline{\text{co}}\left\{T_tx:t\geq s\right\}\cap \mathcal F \neq\emptyset \] for each \(x\in C\) is equivalent to the existence of a nonexpansive retraction \(P:C\overset\text{onto}\longrightarrow\mathcal F\) with \(PT_t=T_tP=P\) for all \(t\in G\) and \(Px\in\overline{\text{co}}\{T_tx:t\in G\}\) for every \(x\in C\). As an application, the weak convergence of a net over \(G\) is investigated.
