In this very interesting paper the authors study finite-dimensional representations of current algebras, loop algebras and their quantized versions. Let \(\mathfrak{g}\) be a semisimple finite-dimensional Lie algebra and \(\mathcal{C}\mathfrak{g}\) be its current algebra. The authors first show that Weyl modules are isomorphic, as \(\mathcal{C}\mathfrak{g}\)-modules, to certain Demazure modules (of level one). In the simply-laced case Demazure modules of higher level turn out to be isomorphic, again as \(\mathcal{C}\mathfrak{g}\)-modules, to Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. It is further shown that if a dominant coweight is decomposed into a sum of dominant coweights, then we have the associated decomposition of the Demazure module into a fusion product of Demazure modules. Finally, the irreducible highest weight modules for the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra \(\hat{\mathfrak{g}}\) can be obtained as a certain direct limit of fusion products of Demazure modules.
