The starting point is a semigroup of completely positive maps \((T_t)\) on a semifinite von Neumann algebra with a f.n.s. trace. One makes standard assumptions about the semigroup, in particular its operators should be selfadjoint w.r.t. the trace. An important part plays also a Poisson semigroup \((P_t)\) subordinated to the semigroup. Next, the authors construct several BMO norms associated with both \((T_t)\) and \((P_t)\). Then the BMO boundedness is proved for certain singular integrals obtained as functions of the generator of the semigroups. In specific cases, one gets boundedness of proper Fourier multipliers. To obtain \(L_p\) bounds for multipliers of the form, the authors prove an interpolation theorem for the BMO spaces associated with semigroups of operators. For this aim, they introduce BMO spaces for noncommutative martingales and use \textit{P. A. Meyer}'s probabilistic model for semigroups of operators [in: Semin. Probab. X, Univ. Strasbourg 1974/75, Lect. Notes Math. 511, 125--183 (1976; Zbl 0332.60032)]. The results are of interest also in the commutative case.
