The rough contents of this very important paper are as follows: introduction, discrete collocation with trigonometric polynomials, error analysis, the logarithmic-kernel integral equation, appendix: technical lemmas and references. The authors, which are really active researchers in the boundary element method, refine their previous results about pointwise error estimates for the trigonometric collocation method in solving singular integral equations by taking into account the quadrature errors. They also get better pointwise error estimates in the case when the order of the pseudo-differential operator is an integer. The obtained estimations are applied to Symm's (logarithmic-kernel) integral equation, both on a closed curve and on an open arc.
