The authors present some results regarding the evolution of compact surfaces by fully nonlinear parabolic curvature flows for which the normal speed is given by a smooth degree-one homogeneous function of the principal curvatures of the evolving surface. The results presented in this paper also generalize the results of \textit{G. Huisken} and \textit{C. Sinestrari} from the paper [Acta Math. 183, No. 1, 45--70 (1999; Zbl 0992.53051)].
