The authors consider a one-dimensional reacting flow, of two modes with source terms, which can be written as the coupled system: \(v_{t}-u_{x}=0\); \(u_{t}+p_{x}=0\); \(p_{t}+pv_{t}/v=\left( p_{R}\left( v\right) -p\right) /\varepsilon\). Here \(u\) is the velocity, \(v\) is the specific volume and \(p\) is the pressure, while \(p_{R}\left( v\right) \) is a function which must satisfy some hypotheses in order to get a nonlinear hyperbolic problem. The authors introduce the notion of single-shot solution (in a distributional sense), which is smooth far away a shock curve and satisfies Rankine-Hugoniot condition across this shock curve. The purpose of the paper is to describe the asymptotic behaviour of the solution of this problem as the relaxation time \(\varepsilon \) goes to zero. Under hypotheses on the solution of the limit problem, the authors prove the existence of a single-shot solution of the original problem which converges to that of the limit problem. The proof of the convergence is essentially based on matched multiscale asymptotic analysis introduced by \textit{J. B. Goodman} and \textit{Z. P. Xin} in [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 121, 235-265 (1992; Zbl 0792.35115)].
