After a sketch of the general setting, the authors show that persistent attractors with mixed spectrum do exist in the context of dynamical systems with \(SO(2)\)-symmetry. They investigate the bifurcations leading to skew-quasi-periodic (SQP) attractors, and, in particular, the so- called skew Hopf-bifurcation. The construction of the SQP attractors is described, and their persistence as well as the bifurcational aspects are discussed in detail. Comments on various aspects of dynamics, mainly based on numerical simulations, conclude this stimulating paper.
