In a previous paper \textit{M. Jin} et al. [Isr. J. Math. 240, No. 1, 315--344 (2020; Zbl 1479.30038)] introduced the notion of slice Dirac-regular functions, i.e., octonionic functions that are Fueter regular on each quaternionic subspace. In this paper, the author proves that these functions are in fact usual slice functions defined on the non-associative algebra of octonions, satisfying some Vekua-type system. The two definitions are deeply compared. In particular, the author improve some results of [loc. cit.], providing global Cauchy's integral formula, a Borel-Pompeiu formula, a Maximum Modulus Principle Taylor and Laurant series expansions. All these results are carried on with many details and examples. In the whole paper, many open questions are proposed.
