The inverse problem considered amounts to find the known source term a(u) in the equation \[ D_ tu-D^ 2_ xu-a(u)=f\quad in\quad Q_ T=(0,1)\times (0,T) \] from \[ (i)\quad D_ xu(0,t)=\beta_ 1,\quad (ii)\quad D_ xu(1,t)=\beta_ 2,\quad (iii)\quad u(x,0)=g_ 3(x), \] \[ (iv)\quad u(0,t)=g_ 1(t),\quad (v)\quad u(1,t)=g_ 2(t). \] Let \(\tau =g_ 3(x)\). From (iii) we get the further information \[ (vi)\quad a(\tau)=a_ 0(\tau)\quad for\quad these\quad \tau. \] The conditions (i), (ii), (iii) are the proper data. The overspecification consists in the conditions (iv), (v), (vi). Using Hölder space technique the authors prove basic inequalities for the pair (u,a). The inverse problem is transformed into a new problem containing the unknown function in the boundary conditions. Under certain assumptions there exist a solution (u,a) of the problem considered.
