The authors continue their work of studying the structure of ``principal-like'' subspaces first introduced by \textit{A. V. Stoyanovsky} and \textit{B. L. Feigin} [Funct. Anal. Appl. 28, No. 1, 55--72 (1994); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 28, No. 1, 68--90 (1994; Zbl 0905.17030)]. In previous work they had shown that these spaces carry a vertex operator structure in the case of the affine algebra \(A_1^{(1)}\) and standard modules of any level. Here they generalize the result to the case of any simply laced affine Lie algebra for level 1 modules. They prove a presentation of the principal-like subspaces by explicitly describing a certain ideal. The methods are similar to their previous work except that the greater generality required extra care, e.g., the present case involves the use of the full enveloping algebra \(U(\tilde{\mathfrak{n}})\) rather than just \(U(\tilde{\mathfrak{n}}_-)\). They also use the presentation thus obtained to get a short exact sequence from which they deduce recursion relations as in [Commun. Contemp. Math. 5, No. 6, 947--966 (2003; Zbl 1039.05005)]. Finally, by solving these relations they obtain formulas for the graded dimensions of the principal-like subspaces.
