    A generalized variant of fixed point theorem for contractions in gauge spaces is used in order to prove the existence of a solution of the integral equation \[ x(t)=\int^t_{t-1}f(s,x(s+2))\,ds,\;t\geq 0, \] belonging to the space \(C(\mathbb{R}_+)\) consisting of functions defined and continuous on \(\mathbb{R}_+\) with real values.
