In this paper first the stair Laguerre approximations are established. A stair Laguerre pseudo spectral scheme is proposed for a model problem on the half line and its convergence is proved. Mathematical implementations are given. A reasonable choice of base function is given. Some numerical results which demonstrate that this new approach provides much more accurate numerical solution than the standard Laguerre spectral method are presented.
